Charcoal gets everywhere.
We’re starting off with studies of solitary objects, focusing on linework more than shading and values of tone. I drew a small model motorcycle, choosing to use charcoal since I had a sheet of rougher brown paper. It turned out pretty well (no pictures yet!), but somehow I managed to get smudges of charcoal on me all the way down to my shins. I have no idea how this happened. My best guess is that charcoal can somehow defy the laws of physics. Either that, or there is a rule somewhere that states that an artist’s attire must include some of whatever medium they were working with that day. Not sure.
